Our Mission

Physical Therapy Can Be Better. Help Us Prove It.

The traditional physical therapy model is broken.

Rushed appointments. Multiple patients at once. Productivity quotas. Clinicians burning out while patients receive care designed around insurance reimbursement instead of what actually helps them get better.

We're building something different.

Fortitude & Freedom Performance Therapy exists to change the way people experience physical therapy.

Our mission is to empower people to use movement and fitness to unlock their body's natural healing—so they can recover, grow, and reach their full potential.

We're looking for an Orthopedic & Pelvic Health Physical Therapist who believes in that mission and wants to help us build the future of performance physical therapy in Central Iowa.

The Opportunity

The Opportunity

Fortitude & Freedom is a growing, privately owned performance physical therapy practice located inside Sisu Strength Academy in Waukee, Iowa.

We work with people who don't simply want to hurt less. They want to get back to living.

Lifting weights. Running. Competing. Training. Playing with their kids. Returning to the gym after having a baby. Doing the things that make them feel strong, capable, and alive.

We're expanding our team and our services, including orthopedic and pelvic health physical therapy.

We're not looking for someone who simply wants to clock in, treat patients, and clock out. We're looking for someone who wants to become an exceptional clinician, contribute to an exceptional team, and grow with an organization that has a much bigger vision for what physical therapy can become.

As Fortitude & Freedom grows, you'll have the opportunity to grow with it. That may eventually mean developing new programs, mentoring other clinicians, stepping into leadership, expanding our pelvic health services, or helping shape the future direction of the practice.

You don't need to arrive knowing how to do all of that. We'll help you grow into it.

Clinician First. Always.

Clinician First. Always.

Your primary responsibility is simple: become an exceptional physical therapist and deliver an exceptional patient experience.

You'll provide individualized, one-on-one care without the pressure of juggling multiple patients simultaneously.

Our approach combines orthopedic rehabilitation, pelvic health, strength and conditioning, manual therapy, and progressive loading to help people return to the activities that matter most to them.

You'll commonly work with:

  • Pregnancy and postpartum athletes
  • Pelvic pain and incontinence
  • Active women returning to exercise
  • CrossFit and barbell athletes
  • Runners
  • Recreational and competitive athletes
  • Active adults
  • Hip, back, SI joint, knee, and shoulder conditions
  • People who simply refuse to let pain dictate what they're capable of

This isn't rehabilitation that ends when someone can walk up the stairs. We want our patients capable of doing more than they could before they were injured.

Mentorship

You Won't Be Expected to Figure It Out Alone.

Great clinicians aren't created by throwing them into a full schedule and hoping they survive.

We believe mentorship should be intentional.

You'll receive structured mentorship designed to develop you clinically and professionally. That includes:

  • Regular one-on-one mentorship with the clinic owner
  • Dedicated clinical case review
  • Treatment planning and clinical reasoning discussions
  • Hands-on skill development
  • Mentorship in orthopedic and performance rehabilitation
  • Support developing your pelvic health expertise
  • Opportunities to collaborate with coaches and other professionals
  • Professional development and continuing education
  • Regular feedback and goal setting
  • Gradually increasing responsibility as your confidence and experience grow

We'll challenge you—but we won't leave you on an island.

The goal isn't simply to make you productive. The goal is to help you become one of the best clinicians in your field.

Beyond the Treatment Room

More Than a Clinician

We believe great healthcare organizations are built by people who care about more than what's happening inside the treatment room.

As you grow into the role, you'll have opportunities to contribute to the clinic beyond patient care. That might include:

  • Building relationships within our fitness and healthcare community
  • Participating in educational workshops
  • Creating patient education or clinical content
  • Collaborating with coaches and local professionals
  • Helping develop new programs and services
  • Improving the patient experience
  • Contributing ideas that make Fortitude & Freedom better

You won't be expected to become a salesperson or marketing expert. You'll be supported, coached, and given clear direction.

Your job is to become a great clinician, build great relationships, and help us serve more people.

  • Driven. You're excited by growth and responsibility.

Self-Selection

This Isn't for Everyone.

If you're looking for a traditional outpatient PT job where you can keep your head down, follow the same protocols, collect your paycheck, and repeat the process tomorrow—this probably isn't the place for you.

But if you believe physical therapy can be better...

If you believe strength and movement can change people's lives...

If you want to become an exceptional clinician...

If you want to work alongside people who expect a lot from themselves and care deeply about the people they serve...

And if the idea of helping build something meaningful excites you—we should talk.

We're not trying to build another physical therapy clinic. We're working to transform how people pursue health, performance, and longevity.

And we're looking for the right people to build it with us.

Fortitude leads to Freedom.
